Patrick Sullivan, Black Sands Chardonnay 2022

Patrick Sullivan is a young winemaker who produces some of the best natural wines in Australia from his vineyards in rural Baw Baw Shire, Victoria. His wines are inspired by, "emotion, a moment in time and a sense of place" and really capture the essence of southern Australia. Sullivan believes that great wines are made in the vineyard, not the winery; and as such, his wines are a real expression of the grapes themselves. Taken from a coastal vineyard outside of Heywood, Victoria; this wine is all things bright & energetic. Made from 100% Chardonnay, it bursts with aromas of citrus blossom, white peach, and a hint of flinty minerality thanks to the black volcanic, sandy soil. The palate is taut yet textured, offering layers of lemon curd, green apple, and subtle oak spice. Vibrant acidity drives a long, saline finish. A pure, dynamic expression of coastal terroir.
